OK let me get this straight ; your not using the driver that comes with
the kernel (emu10k1) but rather some other one distributed by creative?

I think you'd be better off posting that full explanation and seeing if
anybody has any ideas since what you've said here doesn't really provide
any useful info. If its the kernel drivers, one is much like another
after all.

Oh yeah, I use an SB live at home so I do have some experience with 
them. My key experience: the hardware is _REALLY_ _BUGGY_ esp it seems 
to tell the BIOS it supports IRQ sharing - don't believe it, it doesn't 
at least in my experience. I got my SB live working only after tricking 
the BIOS to put it on IRQ11 all by itsself. Otherwise a "modprobe 
emu10k1" was all I needed.
