Craig,

I googled for "fstab mounting order"

and the following link:

www.linuxvoodoo.com/newbies/mounting/

implies that the table does not dictate the mounting order. It suggests listing
the partitions (in fstab) in the order that they are on the drives and there is
rarely a relationship between partition location and mounting order.

You may need to read further and find out where the mounting is done at boot. I
don't know if this varies between distros so keep this in mind, too.
