Freaky. I have a Western Digital 30 gig drive that _only_ detects in 
BIOS when set to cable select - same problem on 3 different motherboards 
too. I've never had an issue using cable select under linux, in fact I 
generally prefer it for newer hardware.

Funny how something that works for one person totally fails for another 
isn't it.
