That's possible. After stressing out over the dead drive, I plugged it into 
another machine, and just left it on. After about 2 hours, there was a whine 
as it spun back up. Needless to say, I quickly backed up all the data from 
there. ^_^

Being SCSI we probably could've just shoved in the Tape drive, but we wanted 
to play it safe... So much for that idea.
