Whilst the thought is good (a comparative session on these things),
perhaps it is not good for an individual to do the comparison, as, most
specialise; for example, one person may program using PHP, another with
Perl, for scripting and database interfaces. Also, some prefer MySQL, and
some prefer PostgreSQL. From what I understand, it is a matter of personal
preferences, and, the particular needs of particular problems, or,
applications. I think it may be difficult to find a person proficient in
all of the different combinations, to give a single impartial comparison
of the different combinations, within PLUG.
So, perhaps, it is a good idea, but may be better done as a
workshop/forum/discussion, or, a seminar with co-presenters (eg, one
person presenting PHP, one presenting Perl, one presenting PostgreSQL, and
one MySQL) rather than a seminar with a single presenter.
