I was doing a mail merge the other day in openoffice.org (Win32), was bored at work so I was having a bit of a fiddle, basically you setup a data source (Tools/Data Sources), then Insert/Fields/Other, Choose the Database tab, then drill down to the field level and drag and drop to your hearts content, then to do the actual mail merge hit F4 to bring up the Datasources toolbar (View/Datasources), choose the table you want and then the Form Letters toolbar button becomes available, which gives you various options as to how you want your output handled.

I was only fiddling and there could well be a better way but it seemed to work okay using a MySQL data source I had setup and was pretty fast judging by the amount of documents it generated before I realised just what I had told it to do. :)

In fact the data sources feature seems pretty powerful and gives a good GUI to manage the database itself, I need more time though to be able to have a good play with it...

Cheers!
