[plug] ppp setup

Sorry for the RTFM nature of this email, my head is currently spinning

I wish to setup ppp on a Mandrake box so a simple 'ifup ppp0' will dial up, 
and 'ifdown ppp0' will disconnect

I seem to remember Debian have a tool to set this up, what was it called?

My head is spinning from all the files, options, pap-secrets, ifcfg-ppp0 etc 

Whats the easiest way to achieve this goal?
