I doubt this,, have never had to; just check carefully what the monitor is
capable of in Hor and Vert Res and set up the XF86Config by whatever means
you have in your distro; or by hand.
Remember <ctrl><alt><bakspace> will escape you out of X-windows and
with luck it is writing a log in /var/log/XFree....
