pppd. See the man page for it. Is the /etc/ppp/ip-up.local file marked 
executable?

I use Monmotha (one size fits all, requires 2.4 kernel because it uses 
iptables) at startup, generally by invoking it from /etc/rc.d/rc.local and 
tell it to masquerade everything from the LAN regardless.
