If it connects to your computer via a cat5 cable, you would have to have an 
ethernet card installed, so try setting that up as your primary Internet 
connection device with the IP of the D-Link device as your gateway. I'm not 
sure about RedHat but if you're using KDE try going to 
k-menu->configuration->networking and see if netconf is in the menu. There 
should be some graphical tool to save you from diving straight into 
configuration files (although the later may be a better leaning experience :)
