<snip>
Just heard from one of our Deans (Deputy Principal type dude) today that he
has heard of schools within Perth that still have unopened boxes that
contain computers given to them by the education department 3 years ago....
solely because they were not ready for the change, they were/are scared of
this 'new' magic called email ;)

Now i hope this is an extreme case (actually i really hope it isn't true),
but maybe a school like that could be a great place to start. You have no
infrastructure to replace, no system for staff to move from. Just an empty
space waiting to be filled.

I am sure there are concerned parents - and hopefully with some gentle
persuasion, and the promise of friendly support (something missing from the
education department plan - ie it was simply money for equipment, no money
for support or training - and if a teach puts up there hand they get the
job of 'administrator' of the system, with no training at all), some
teachers that are willing to give computer technology another go.

Just an idea, a lot of work - and i am not sure how possible it is for
people with other jobs to deal with. Even for the lucky students, who want
this type of work experience, it is a great hurdle to jump over.

My AUD$0.02 (or US$ 0.0107816)

Justin
