If the other machines are Windows and need to see one another, put them on 
different subnets (else Windows makes some wrong assumptions about how to get 
from A to B), set the Linux box up as a WINS server, and point them both at 
it.

If the middle machine is Windows, put TDS and a good virus scanner on it 
before dialling out and then pray often.
