Samba on Debian (Woody) runs as our PDC for logins and also holds a central 
share for MP3's.  I am still yet to play with login scripts but find it 
does the trick for us.
Not running Linux on the desktop much (yet) I have yet to play with shares, 
etc the 'linux way'.
