FW: [plug] Keyboard locks up

Unfortunately, this did not help.  As soon as I booted into run-level 3, the
keyboard locked up again.  I was forced to power-off the machine and restart
it, however I now seem to have the problem that the / filesystem seems to be
read-only.  Although I am logged on as root (in single-user mode), I am not
able to update any config files.   It seems to be complaining of having a
read-only filesystem.
