The Australian W3C Office in conjunction with Software Engineering
Australia, Western Australia, and the WA Department of Industry and
Technology is pleased to invite you to a free overview seminar on W3C and
its Web Services activities.

Abstract:
Web services is a hot topic today, because it promises to be the foundation
of the Web tomorrow. We have all seen the impact and benefits of the Web.
Web services will enable the Web to be even more powerful and useful. The
W3C is developing the specifications for Web Services. It is a vendor
neutral organisation and it is committed to keeping the Web open and
interoperable - vital ingredients for the success of the Web. Building on
the success of HTML, MEL and other W3C technologies, Web Services will help
us realise the full potential of the Web.

Presenter:
Dr Hoylen Sue is the Technical Manager of the Australian W3C Office. He
is also a member of the W3C XML Query Working Group.

Dr Sue is project leader of DSTC's (Co-operative Research Centre for
Enterprise Distributed Systems Technology) Titanium project, which is
researching data transformations and interoperability. Currently, the
project is focusing on the use of XML technologies and is targeting
electronic health records in the health care domain. He is also a
project leader of the Maenad project, which is researching the use of
metadata for multimedia. He has been involved in research into resource
discovery, methods for discovering, accessing, and retrieving electronic
resources on the Internet.
