Ok, here is a chance to introduce another person to Linux.
The problem is that she is having so many problems with Windows and viruses
and bugs.
The proposed solution is Linux
She has a low end machine (p200, 32mb ram - EDO, 500mb hd, CD-ROM, ISA
Sound Blaster) and needs Linux that will fit her needs
It must:
    * Run at a reasonable speed
    * Be easy to use
    * Be able to send and receive emails
    * Be able to write and print documents on a Epson Stylus Color 480
I feel that I can set up the system pretty much by my self. The things I
need advice on are:
    * Choosing a Distribution
    * Choosing Desktop environment and Email application
    * Setting up modem and email application so that when she clicks check
email it dials, checks and sends emails, and hangs up.
    * Setting up firewall so that for the few minutes shes on she isn't
attacked, this can be left out
    * Choosing Word processor
    * Making the system fool proof.
    * Making the transition from windows to Linux easy
    * Setting up printer (If I am using Redhat or Mandrake or some distro
that nicely sets up the printer at install time then this can be skipped,
other wise I think it will be CUPS as that is all I have used)
    * Setting up printer so that I can change the ink cartridges...
    * Speeding up boot time (If a distro that by default install lots of
unneeded services
ThanksTim
P.S. This is coming after finally after 3,4,5... visits to fix that stupid
computer and numerous Windows reinstalls, I now have the go ahead by the
commander, DAD.
