[plug] RHN update agent query

Hello.

In RH 7.3, with the update agent utility, an icon appears on the task 
bar. The icon is a circle, and if an internet connection does not exist, 
or, when loading XWindows, until the utility has checked for updates, it 
is (from memory) filled with a grey colour, and contains a question 
mark. If an update is available, the circle is filled with red, and 
contains an excalamtion mark. If it has checked and no updates are 
available, the cicle is filled with grey, and contains a tick.

A while ago, when I ran the shutdown -h command, I forgot to first 
shut down the applications running in XWindows, and XWindows itself. The 
next time that I ran XWindows, the icon had disappeared, and it has not 
reappeared. I have been unable to restore the icon.

How do I restore the icon automatically appearing in the task bar when I 
run XWindows, so that it automatically checks for updates?
