afternoon?,

Have just installed Debian on test box, trying to upgrade kde have found
iinet have latest kde offerings in debian compiled packages, need to add this

ftp://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub/kde/stable/3.0.3/Debian or
ftp://ftp.iinet.net.au/.disks/disk5/kde/stable/3.0.3/Debian

to /etc/apt/sources.list, I have tried

ftp://ftp.iinet.net.au/pub kde/stable/3.0.3/Debian//

this seems to initiate the packages file but ignores release.

Please excuse simplicity of this question, but I am a Slackware user trying
to get head around Debian and apt-get/dselect/dpkg. Due to glowing comments
about the networkability of Debian via this list and other users including
many ISP's whom use it for such purposes seeing how it compares with
Slackware. (Building own internal and external networks)

Also how do we get a downloaded deb package installed from local machine, in
slack I just point to file and installpkg or point pkgtool to it.

Is this same with apt-get or is there another install package to do this.?

Thanks
Rob Davies
