[plug] Westnet DSL troubles: probably not linux issue

Hi all
Just an update on an issue I posted about a while ago about our Debian 
firewall losing its connection to WestNet ADSL.

Turns out that the problem is the modem - at least sometimes, the "ADSL 
Link" light goes out and takes up to 10 minutes to recover. Either the 
other problem with LCP EchoReq timeouts and/or "recieved PADT from peer" 
is caused by flakyness of the modem/line, or we have 2 problems.

Once I've got the modem/line one fixed I'll post an update that'll say 
either "problem was with line/modem - those having similar problems, 
yell at telstra/Dlink" or "we still have a linux/debian issue too".
