[plug] [link] Microsoft Linux

Hi Jason
Neither was I being sarcastic nor did I realise the site was a parody.
It occurred to me straight away that the site might be a "tongue-in-cheek"
one, especially as it did not have the usual MS URL address, so I scrolled
down to the bottom and found the MS copyright information and that is what
made me think it was genuine ... parodies are one thing buy falsifying
copyright is not usually supported by people having a joke.
Anyway, I am glad that it is and that Microsoft are not trying to head us
off at the pass, eventually to proprietarise and bastardise Linux in the
same way they did with Java.

Uhm either you have gone to great lengths to be sarcastic or you haven't
realised that the site is a parody...
Cheers

Hi Leon
So, Microsoft has foreseen the challenges and future potential of the
various open software organisations (paritcularly OOo, I should imagine) and
has decided "if you can't lick them, join them", but, as always, looks like
it (MS) wants to lead from in front.
What does it mean in real terms?
What advantages will we have over "Windoze" when Windows has all the
advatnages of Linux, because it is now linux?
Why would the majority of users muck around with Debian or Red Hat, Mandrake
and the rest of the open source O/S's when Windows-Linux will not only be
more user friendly, easier to install and set up, and require less computer
skills and technical knowledge, but also be guaranteed compatible with our
friends and relatives who are using MS aplications such as Word on Windows
98 & XP?
I don't know why, but I must admit to feeling a little "invaded" as I read
the article you posted about MS-Linux. Why can't MS stick to its own
products and leave us Linux users alone, and with certain advantages?
Also, once the whole world is using either O-S Linux or MS-Linux it won't be
long before the hackers and virus writers are concentrainting their efforts
on us rhather than Windoze users.
Kind regards
James Elliott
