[plug] SQL question

Design the front end so it speaks some form of XML (like SOAP) to an
arbitrary back-end. Then you will be able to take advantage of
soon-to-market Web Services facilities.

If you have to build a back-end, get it to receive it with the same XML
format and talk to the database of choice.

We are currently developing just such a system. Estimated time to market: 9
months.

I know this probably doesn't help you right now, but I thought I'd mention
it anyway :-)

Subject: [plug] SQL question

> We are looking at developing a program that requires a SQL back end
system. At first thoughts everyone is looking toward M$ SQL for their
answer. The front-end will be written in VB. My question is can this also
work with the likes of postgresql or mysql? After the initial phase is
written it will need to be able to integrate and be available via a web
browser. Any suggestion?
