Yesterday morning I downloaded the .debs from ximian and using dpkg just
installed them over the top of 1.0.8. The launch took forever, but it's
been working fine since then.

On a slightly different note, my ~/evolution directory has over 5000
files inside it. The launch of 1.0.8 took well over a minute, the first
time after a boot. The new version of evolution takes even longer,
although now it draws the main window first - you still can't do
anything with it.

Any ideas on how I may speed up the launch?
