I had this problem on a very old 233 (Mar 1996) with a very old CD drive that I
recently upgraded with Suse. I found I had to put the CD and the HDD on
seperate IDE channels. I had a second HDD and had to remove that too. Would
only work with one device per IDE and very slowly.
