Umm... if you're running Debian, the easiest way to get ip masquerading
up and running is to just install the 'ipmasq' package.  Follow the
instructions, and it almost always works out-of-the-box (given a
correctly compiled kernel).

Perhaps I missed something earlier in the thread?
