Well, this is more of a quick fix rather than a DIY job, but have a look 
at PMFirewall: http://www.pointman.org/PMFirewall/
Sets up IP Masquerade when ppp0 comes up and provides a nice little 
firewall. It's also just a bunch of scripts, so it's fairly easy to modify.
