I agree, more or less. Depends on the list. It is certainly inappropriate on a
hobbyist (finally got the spelling right!) list. I can understand why on the obsd
list they get angry. It is a serious list, and they pride themselves on the
quality of their manuals. Also, the policy is understood, ie, if you ask a silly
q, you will get flamed.
Here, I think it works fine. This is probably the best list I have ever been on.
By and large no-one gets flamed, and the easiest way to police 'exploitation' (if
it even exists) is by keeping silent.
