After waiting a month for delivery of a sony vaio pcg-fxa10 from sony online
(you've been warned - approach sony online with care) that was supposed to
take less than a week, I am fast approaching the moment of truth when I
liberate this poor machine from the clutches of the Evil Lord Bill.
Unfortunately there isn't any information on the internet about installing
Linux on this particular model, though there's info on a close equivalent =
pcg-fxa32. It all seems rather challenging for my small brain so I thought
I'd ask if there is anyone who has experience with sony notebooks who might
be able to offer any words of wisdom (ie: gotchas) before I get going.
More specs below:
Mobile AMD Athlon XP 1400
VIA Apollo KT133A
256 MB SO-DIMM(SDRAM)
ATI RAGE Mobility-M1 with 8MB of video memory
14.1" TFT, XGA compatible can do 1024 x 768
IEEE 802.3 10Base-T
30GB Ultra ATA/100 compatible
regards,
sol
