side note

found I could ALWAYs get nvidia drivers working in Mandrake
BUT
when I updated my video bios, the drivers would NEVER work 
(rpm,source,different ver mandrake etc)
install the ORG video bios and all version have installed.

point of subject?
the installation of the drivers MIGHT not be the prob, TRY earlier or later 
video bios.
