Never touched Cyrus, it seemed too fiddly to get going.
Stay away from Courier's SMTPD as it bounces messages that don't follow
RFC822, which happens to include everything from Hotmail and Outlook; it
also doesn't play well with fetchmail. Maybe okay for people who choose
their friends based on their MUA of choice, but for the real world it's
rather impractical. The Courier POP3 and IMAP servers seem to be fine
though. (Disclaimer: I have no idea whether it can download messages
but not attachments as requested.) Courier uses Maildirs so migration
can be done by any one of numerous shell scripts.
Last time I looked UW Imapd was hideously broken and managed to corrupt
some of my mailboxes. Maybe this has been fixed lately but I'm not
willing to play with it to find out. (Especially since I no longer use
IMAP.)
Cameron.
