Hmm... *stabs at dark*  Maybe ifconfig isn't in your path - does it work
if you use /sbin/ifconfig instead?  Perhaps the machine you're running
it on doesn't have a peer-to-peer interface (e.g. is on ADSL or behind a
firewall)?
