X-Mailer: Sylpheed version 0.7.4 (GTK+ 1.2.10; i386-debian-linux-gnu)
Looks like you have your winmodem running fine under linux, in which
case the suggestions of others (the standard debian upgrade mechanism)
will work fine. Debian is very good about leaving your kernel untouched,
so there should be no effect on the winmodem drivers unless you choose
to start using a newer kernel. If you do that, you simply need to
reinstall the drivers for the new kernel (usually) or maybe get a
version of the driver for that kernel.
If I'm making the wrong assumption from your X-Mailer header and the box
does not have a modem working under linux, just bring it along to the
next PLUG meeting at UCC and you can upgrade it over the network.
