Boot the first CD, choose Upgrade. Then run off to 
http://public.planetmirror.com/pub/linux/mandrake/updates/9.1 and 
update it. You can add that source to URPMI like this:

urpmi.addmedia --update pmupd \
  http://public.planetmirror.com/pub/linux/mandrake/updates/9.1/RPMS \
  with ../base/hdlist.cz

Then occasionally do an:

urpmi --auto-select
