Jon, this looks odd. It says:
www.gateway.mmtnetworks.com.au. -> gateway.gateway.mmtnetworks.com.au
gateway.gateway.mmtnetworks.com.au. -> 192.168.1.3

1/ You are right that it would work, but only so long as the web server
is set to behave like www.mmtnetworks.com.au when it is contacted as
www.gateway.mmtnetworks.com.au. This might not be the case if it is used
for a lot of virtual hosting. We could easily check to see whether this
is the case or not, except that www.mmtnetworks.com.au doesn't appear to
server TCP port 80 to the wider internet (I get 'connection refused').
2/ He could more easily use 'www IN CNAME www.mmtnetworks.com.au.'
