[plug] nvidia... almost (deb help1)

G'day all!
Been having some teething probs moving to Debian, but it's impressive so
far, can't stand .rpm. Anyway, onto the hard stuff.....

I found that I can get the NVidia drivers to work in the end, and that it's
not my config file for X that causing the problem either.

The way I got it to work was to extract the contents of the latest debian
release and cd into the newly created dir, then do "make install", bingo,
startx/kdm run fine, as do opengl apps, etc. When I reset the machine
though, the drivers don't work anymore, until I do the same thing again,
obviously I want to avoid this, as it's kinda annoying and I'm afraid that
it'd be making backup files each time and I'd be flooding the thing with
'em. ;)

i tried adding all users to the group video, but that didn't seem to work,
does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on and why the drivers aren't
working after a reset (apart from manually re-installing on each boot)? Any
ideas how to rectify this? And to anwer the obvious, yeah, I tried the
standard installer but it didn't work (the module doesn't load, same with
resetting after make install). There's no outputted erros from the
installation programme at the time though, which is a little funny....

Any help for any of these questions (I've got a few more, been tinkering and
all) will eb much appreciated, cheers in advance! :)
John
