Is this for the machine to be remote admined? 

Most people use KVM over IP for servers but I'm planning do use it for
desktop support. I could plug in a Weasel card but I don't really want
to do that because I'd have to buy a card for each desktop machine.

I'm going to build a box that can be plugged into any machine. But at
the moment is looks like at the very least the desktop machine is going
to need TV out. Perhaps there is something that can grab standard video
card output (instead of it going to the monitor) but I am focusing on
getting the keyboard working for now.
