Eek.  Which distro are you talking about?  Mandrake had a "previous" button
all the way through, and I'm pretty sure that you can do the Debian
install process in whatever order you want to.

Agreed.  Though I'm still using Debian for my desktop because it's
already set up and working, and I really can't be bothered spending more
time setting up Mandrake properly.

No idea.  urpmi seems reasonable enough for installing software that
comes with the distribution.
