Hi. I've played with both recently, and unfortunately for my patience,
bochs seems much more stable. I wanted to run win98 to test IE
rendering, but it's really just too slow for that. (I'm not blaming
bochs, that's just the nature of the approach.) XP didn't install for
me, but they say it works in the docs. Now I don't remember why I didn't
try 2000 -- probably for performance reasons.
With all the plex86 I tried, I couldn't really get anything workable out
of it; either from scratch or with help from bochs. I ended up just
dropping it because it was actually running slower than my bochs system.
I do know that bochs emulates a system, i.e. emulated ne2k ethernet,
emulated VGA, etc. so if you try to boot that on plex86, the guest OS
will not be too happy. Of course, that shouldn't crash anything, but
hey; you're playing with black magic as it is.

Wow, I hadn't realized that. Interesting indeed. I remember that the
plex86 web page was impossible to navigate; and also that the bochs guy
sort of lost interest in emulation and wanted to play with
virtualization; so maybe this is a win.
If you have any luck with the hybrid, please let me/us know!
