That depends on whether you are loking at the first or second editions !!!!

Recent books by Andrew Tannenbaum :

Computer Networks, Fourth Edition
(2003) ISBN: 0-13-066102-3

Distributed Systems: Principles and Paradigms
(2002) ISBN: 0-13-088893-1

Modern Operating Systems, Second Edition
(2001) ISBN: 0-13-031358-0

Structured Computer Organization, Fourth Edition
(1999) ISBN: 0-13-095990-1

Operating Systems: Design And Implementation, Second Edition
(1997) ISBN: 0-13-638677-6

Distributed Operating Systems
(1995) ISBN: 0-13-219908-4

In my opinion :

To a newcomer - an old book is better than no book, when the beginner
understands the old book - he/she can then read the new book and appreciate
the difference.
