[plug] taper question

Howdy,


Does anyone use taper for tape backups?  I'm giving it a whirl now and
it keeps insisting on asking for a new tape after around 1.7-2GB of raw
data (compressed size seems irrelevant).

If I use plain old tar I can fit 20GB on a DDS4 tape no worries.

Anyone else seen this or know what I'm muffing up?
