This is referred to as "package management". Some package management
systems will take care of dependencies for you (e.g. Dpkg/APT under
Debian Linux). Others will require that you chase up the dependencies
yourself. This might be the case for your operating system. However,
glibc is a fundamental part of a Linux-basd operating system and caution
may be advised. Others will be able to advise you better than I can.
