Hi,

Having had a look at your dmesg and fstab, they seem to be in order.
With regards to your DVD problem, what is likely is that a file called
/dev/cdrom (cited by your fstab) is incorrectly referring to the old
device named /dev/hdd. It will need to be updated to /dev/hdc. (In fact,
if you specify /dev/hdc as your cdrom device, you might find it works
fine -- it is hopefully only /dev/cdrom that gives the "not a valid
block device" error.) With regards to your "hdc1 not found" problem, I
am not sure (diagnosis may depend on whenabouts the message appears).
Things that spring to mind are (a) a programme is set to look at hdc1
for a hard drive, in which case it needs to be told to look at a
different device or (b) a programme is trying to read a CD but you
don't have one inserted.
