Errr no. I'm using a Digital Satellite card, under Linux, in Dubai, with 
no problems anymore.. (When I bought it there was no linux driver for it 
at all. I took what someone else had written, cleaned it up a little and 
extended it)

Having said that, I believe there are a number of people on the 
linux-dvb mailing list that are doing just that..
