| Hmm, I never knew you could do that. What am I looking for in traceroute to
| tell me that it's on WAIX? I get:
|
| # traceroute ftp.wa.au.debian.org
| traceroute to ftp.wa.au.debian.org (203.8.116.111), 30 hops max, 40 byte
| packets
| 1 firewall.localdomain (192.168.1.250) 2.025 ms 3.328 ms 4.549 ms
| 2 i014-016.nv.iinet.net.au (203.59.14.16) 22.909 ms 32.913 ms 42.718 ms
| 3 per-qv1-core3.iinet.net.au (203.59.49.175) 59.434 ms 142.673 ms
| 147.008 ms
| 4 203.59.49.170 148.392 ms 150.066 ms 151.701 ms
| 5 it.ix.waia.asn.au (198.32.212.25) 153.107 ms 154.769 ms 156.420 ms
      ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

ix.waia.asn.au should be mildly suggestive of WAIX connectivity.

BUT this doesn't guarantee much, because the traceroute only tells you
the path the packets take getting from your machine to wa.au.debian.org.
It is possible that the packets coming back aren't routed through WAIX -
and it's the ones coming back the count toward you quota. You can't
really tell what path they'll come back via, though, short of running a
traceroute from wa.au.debian.org. Ferinstance, at one point Planetmirror
looked like it was on WAIX when you did a traceroute, but it wasn't
really. I'm sure someone else here knows all the gory details of that
story.

Cameron.
