Yeah well it's was still not working about 1/2 an hour ago.

I also realised my mouse wasn't working on X. Funny I read everything that 2.6
is fine and that maybe a few little things have problems like USB hot-syncs etc
but now I read on pages found through google that the whole keyboard and mouse
thing has completely changed.

Anyway I'm doing a re-install as testing... (.eek!)

I'll read up a bit more and dist-upgrade to sid when it's actually working...
