[plug] Scrollback in screen(1) ?

Hi all,

I've been playing around with screen(1). It looks like
it will come in handy, for the
"detach-active-console-and-come-back-to-later" use
(rather than the "use-multiple-consoles-in-one-window"
use, whereby I just open another window ;)

However, I've noticed that if I have (say) a "tail -f
/var/log/syslog" screen, I can't scroll up the screen
at all (as Shift-PgUp would do normally). I'm not too
concerned about scrolling up to see stuff that
happened before I reattached, but I'd like to be able
to see what's happened since (the previous couple of
pages, at least).

It seems to have a "scroll buffer" which by default is
1000 (lines?), but I'm not sure if that's what I'm
looking for, and if so, how to enable it. Googling
doesn't particularly help, I just come up with umpteen
copies of the Linux Keyboard and Console HOWTO :(

Any suggestions?

Andrew

Linux supports the notion of a command line or a shell for the same
reason that only children read books with only pictures in them.
Language, be it English or something else, is the only tool flexible
enough to accomplish a sufficiently broad range of tasks.
