[plug] Intel Motherboard allocates incorrect resouces - (Was: IDE-TAPE)

Can anyone tell me why my boot parameters seem to have no effect
whatsover?

>From dmesg:
        Kernel command line: auto BOOT_IMAGE=Linux ro root=303 noapic nousb ide0=0x1f0,0x3f6,14 ide1=0x170,0x376,15

The very next line says:
        Found and enabled local APIC!

It then goes on its merry way and still no ide1.

Am I missing something *so obvious* that no-one dares tell me?
