Hi All,

Some time ago, I asked about a problem I had with a new machine. Gigabyte
GA7VT600 M/B with SuSE 8.2, in that I was unable to acces the network from
it. No real error messages in dmesg. ifconfig looked fine. It would ping
its own external NIC address 10.0.0.40. Basically couldn't ping anything
through the NIC - RTL8139. After checking dmesg, I noticed that Mdk (on the
same machine - without problems) was assigning v. high IRQ to the NIC,
while SuSE was sharing IRQ 11 between 3 interfaces.

Someone (to my shame I cannot remember who) suggested that it may be ACPI.
Last night I finally got around to doing something about acpi, (like
turning it off) and my network now works. Just something to remember with
this M/B and SuSE, since what actually set me to fixing it was a letter to
Linux Format where someone had exactly the same problem.

Thanks guys
RichardM
