[plug] logrotate defunct process

I have a problem with anacron started logrotate failing and leaving a 
zombie,  thus causing anacron to fail the next time it runs. logrotate -d 
/etc/logrotate.conf seems to report everything as being ok and running 
logrotate manually succeeds, nothing else in the man for either logrotate 
or anacron appears to point to a solution. I am running out of ideas, 
nothing I have tried seems to get me any further information on cracking 
this problem.

Ideas where to try next would be appreciated. Thanks. :)
