You may find that using testing's version of MySQL will prompt you to
incorporate a wide range of 'testing' packages into your system (e.g.
lots of new versions of fundamental libraries). You may wish to use a
backport instead. Also, you say that you "need" to use MySQL 4 for
InnoDB support. There is actually InnoDB support in MySQL 3 (in fact,
it's even in the version of MySQL 3 that's included with Debian woody).
Perhaps MySQL 3 is sufficiently competent for your purposes?
