[plug] Src Code Editor for moving by function

I currently use Vim as my editor (Well GVim under GNOME) and I am happy
with that to do all my coding needs.
I am currently working an a PHP program that has many functions and
between a few of them are the few lines of code that are 'main.' This is
a result of a code clean up that I just did (I used to have a big nested
if statment block and few functions, I now have more functions which
make for a nicer system.)
I have used editors before that allow you to collapse and expand
functions which is really nice as it makes it easy to manage the src and
it also makes it nice as you can move the code around in
functions/if/loops etc which makes it easy to sort your code in a way
that is appealing to you.
If anyone knows how to do this in GVim/Vim please tell me. Otherwise
what other editor do i need to try to find this? [1]
I also like Kate's way of italiking comments. Is there a way to do this
in Gvim? Can any one point me to an easy way to change the syntax
highlightinh to include bold, italic and to change colors?
Thanks
Tim

I don't wish to use kate in the KDE IDE as I prefer GNOME. If you know
have something that is similar then suggest it as well. I would prefer
though to have just the editor and not the whole IDE.
